Reading and influences
What I’m reading now.
Grouped by what they are for, with a line on why each one is on my desk.
On thinking
Building Thinking ClassroomsThe book I wish I'd had my first year. Teaching as something you think about, not just perform. It hands students real agency and forces them to be curious and active instead of passive.
Don't Believe Everything You ThinkThat the thinking is not the same as me. Useful for someone who lives a little too much in his own head.
On the stoics
The Daily StoicA page every morning. The reset I reach for before the day gets loud.
MeditationsA man talking himself into being decent, in private. Nothing in it performs, which is why it holds up.
On what actually matters
EssentialismThe case for doing less, on purpose. Same instinct as cutting a standards list down to the ones that actually matter.
The FormulaWhat actually drives an outcome versus the story we tell about it. I read it while building, and second-guessing what I build.
